|  "Tangier" (After Marshall D. Smith)

A cloaked man ascends a steep road in the warm afternoon light in front of Moroccan buildings bathed in light. A small group of figures look on from a short distance, relaxing in the shade. The color scheme is warm, with beige, brown, blue-greens and light blue.

This is a reproduction of an original painting (approx. 1920s) by Marshall D. Smith, who was a Chicago artist and a great uncle through marriage. The original hung in my Grandmother's house. For as long as I can remember, this picture inspired me with its warm light and far-away mystery.
