About My Work

I'm inspired by discipline-oriented methods, techniques, and processes. Much of my work is informed by the Dutch Golden Age painters, late 1800s illustrators, and Japanese woodblock artists. I also take inspiration from late 1800s - early 1900s symbolism, surrealism and post-impressionism. Whether the medium be painting, drawing, or printmaking, I'm always on the lookout for the extraordinary in the ordinary, the spiritual in the mundane, the silly against the serious. I enjoy exploring the effects of subtle contrasts and juxtapositions. Overall, though, my aim is to simply create timeless, harmonious images that speak volumes through relative silence.
