About My Work

I'm drawn to time-tested methods, techniques, and processes. My inspiration comes from a wide variety of sources — from the Dutch Golden Age painters, late 1800s illustrators, and Japanese woodblock artists to the symbolists, surrealists and post-impressionists of the late 1800s/early 1900s. Whether the medium be painting, drawing, or printmaking, I'm always on the lookout for the extraordinary in the ordinary, the spiritual in the mundane, the silly against the serious. I enjoy exploring the effects of subtle contrasts and juxtapositions. Overall, though, my aim is to simply create timeless, harmonious images that speak volumes through relative silence.
